When couples reach out

You don't need a crisis to benefit — but therapy helps with those, too.

The same fight, on a loop

Arguments that never resolve, or a silence that's grown where conversation used to be.

Distance & disconnection

Living like roommates — functional on the surface, but missing warmth, intimacy, or feeling truly seen.

Trust under strain

Working through breaches of trust, jealousy, or the long shadow of past hurts.

Life transitions

New parenthood, immigration, career upheaval, retirement — changes that pull a relationship in different directions.

Two careers, no time

High-pressure professional lives leaving the relationship with whatever energy is left over — often none.

Different worlds

Navigating cultural, religious, or family-of-origin differences — including in cross-cultural and immigrant relationships.

The approach

Not a referee. A guide.

Dr. Gale's role isn't to decide who's right. It's to help both of you understand the pattern you're caught in — the cycle of pursuit and withdrawal, criticism and defense — and to change the pattern rather than blame the people in it.

Her integrative approach draws on humanistic and psychodynamic schools of thought, is trauma-informed throughout, and is tailored to each couple rather than delivered from a script.

  • Inclusive of all cultural, religious, and gender backgrounds, including LGBTQ+ couples
  • Sessions in English or Russian — including couples who speak one of each
  • Confidential, non-judgmental space where both partners are heard
  • Individual sessions can complement couples work when helpful

Common questions

Before you book.

My partner is reluctant. Can I start alone?

Yes. Many couples begin with one motivated partner. Individual sessions can clarify what you want and how to invite your partner in — and sometimes changes in one person shift the whole dynamic.

Is couples therapy covered by insurance?

Most extended health plans that cover psychological services reimburse couples therapy under one partner's coverage, to the extent specified in the plan. You'll receive a receipt suitable for submission.

Can we do couples therapy online?

Yes — secure video sessions are available anywhere in Ontario, and work well for couples juggling demanding schedules or in different locations. Evening and weekend times are available.

Is it too late for us?

Couples often wait years longer than they should before seeking help — and still benefit. Therapy can rebuild a relationship; and where partners choose different paths, it can help them part with clarity and respect. Either way, you leave with understanding instead of confusion.
